The first edition was broadcast from the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cardiff, and the series is one of the longest-running of its kind on television anywhere in the world.

I watched it. It had clapping & a presenter with red hair. My contempt can be no greater for the programme.

However, I feel that Libera still could make an appearance on the show in future as they did have musical spots that didn't involve congregational clapping...

I suspect the programmers are just hoping to enlarge their viewer base to include more Roman Catholics and non-Anglican protestants, that doesn't mean they're abandoning the C of E entirely.

Last weeks SOP, the first under the new era. Presenters with dyed red hair, clap along sing songs and guitars. If you wanted to showcase everything that is weak and insipid about fringe Christianity and create a parody programme then they have discovered the correct format based on that one show. Of course things might settle down and the formula may improve. We'll see.

Just watched it on Iplayer - well, to be honest fast-forwarded most of it. Have to agree with you.For the most part teeth grindingly awful.
