They could shoot it in an open field or on top of a grass covered hill. I think most people would find it difficult to distinguish an open field or a grassy hill in England from a field or hill in the US. The grass and trees are the same color. Are there any memorials in England dedicated to the American soldiers based in the UK during either of the two world wars? OTOH they could hop across the channel and film it at one of the Normandy memorial parks. They could also film it in green screen then photoshop the background in. If they use the flag and bald eagle theme in the video john45 posted they simply must include Stephen Colbert.

So good that for this Dutch guy they can get away with a patriotic US song :)
Music connects and crosses boundaries :)
Indeed it does, you are right and my concerns are unfounded :). I tend to overestimate how much people may take issue with things....even though I tend not to take issue with anything like that myself lol. I remember my visit to George Washington's historic home in Virginia in the US (George Washington was our first president and military general during the Revolutionary War) and one of the films in the museum had "Rule Britannia" as the background music to discuss Mr. Washington's time as an officer in the British Colonial Army or something like that. I had never heard it before and it's a very rousing song; the words are patriotic towards Britain. No one was even the slightest bit phased by that even in this American museum :) With me later searching out this composition on youtube in my curiosity

So you are right :D

Washington was an officer of the Virginia militia, in fact he was appointed commander of the Virginia Regiment, but he never held a commission in the British Army. He was in fact involved in the very outbreak of the French and Indian / Seven Years War. At a meeting with an envoy of the French shots were fired, the envoy was killed, war broke out in North America and then spread literally throughout the world. After the war he expected a commission in the British Army, but was ultimately disappointed. I don't think the British knew what to do with him. He started a costly war, but in the end Great Britain made out like a bandit, gaining ultimate control of India and other major colonies in North America, the Caribbean, Africa and East Asia.

Confirmed they'll be recording the new video in Ireland, and also a new song for Japan on the way? Wonder if it will involve the very successful muramatsu-prizeman link-up again?

Here's the bit about the video transcribed:

"We're going making a video film for America the Beautiful, in fact! Look out for this, because we're going to Ireland to film a video version of America the Beautiful. Because, of course, the boys are very mixed in their backgrounds, living in London, and amongst them are a lot of boys with Irish backgrounds--me included--and of course at the point when a lot of those families came to London, there were also millions of Irish people coming over here, to the States! So we sort of picked up on that story a bit, in this video version of America the Beautiful, so do look out for that."

So an immigration theme? Docks or a boat, perhaps?

I think that is the general idea - imagine the Wonderful World urchins escaping the dangerous jobs and hard labour and catching a boat from Ireland to the US, passing the Statue of Liberty en route to Ellis Island, and landing in New York and then on to the wide open plains, mountains, oceans, etc,etc

I'm having flashbacks to high school history class :)

Are you kidding? During my public education we had 3 years of Virginia history: 3rd grade, 7th grade, and 9th grade.

Actually the UK banned (most) child labor nearly decades before the US did. The UK introduced a degree of regulation of child labor in 1833, more than a half century before the first state in the US. For that matter there are politicians in the US still attempting to repeal the Fair Labor Act which includes the restrictions on child labor.

Think of the name of a great American from the 19th century - Lincoln, Carnegie, Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Edison, Ford - every single one of them went to work before reaching puberty.

Ah, but that might not make for such a good video - sending our boys off to the New World to be exploited by evil tycoons. Perhaps we had best stick with the myth!

OK, in the finest tradition of Horatio Alger's Ragged Dick,Tattered Tom,and Luck and Pluck how's about they become evil tycoons after crossing the pond?

Ah well, the problem wasn't the growing of potatoes, rather it was the failure thereof - the potato crops I mean.

So the video will probably be of the boys boarding on a sailing ship for America? That would work, the main wave of Irish came over in the 1830's and 1840's, they would have arrived in sailing ships, not steamers.
