Nice find! Though to be honest I heard better solos by him.
I wonder what the context of this recording was.

I could think of a cathedral in Northern Ireland...........seriously though, I think that is the effect of the lead in the windows behind Eoghan and a rather elaborate music holder stand in front. Or were you joking :D

doesn't seem like its in the context of a service though, maybe a rehearsal?

Sorry, the first time I watched it, at a lower rez, the strong back lighting made it seem like the diamond pattern was in front of him, not behind.
The video was apparently made by his sister.

And speaking of his sister, I think she mentioned that Eoghan was with Westminster Cathedral Choir for 3 years. In this picture, there is this certain Eoghan Mccarthy listed as one of the choristers. Could this be him in the front row fourth from left?

If so, that's big news in the Libera world. From what year is that picture? If it's him, it must have been taken quite some time ago.

Eoghan first appeared singing with Libera in the spring of 2011, if I remember correctly. I think he was born in August of 2000 (according to some Libera website or another!), so he's 13, now. Westminster Cathedral Choir School takes choristers starting at 8+, so he could have sung there as early as 2008, I think.

He's in a couple of videos, if you look carefully:

(around 1:54)

(around 00:50)

(I think... you can see a pair of glasses that look like Eoghan's around 00:25!)

Thanks for the links. I can see Eoghan :D I was one of those who were quite amazed that Eoghan was already a technically brilliant soloist when he was just a newbie in Libera. Now I know.

I think it's been fairly well known for a year or two to be honest Maarten. The name isn't common enough for a boy of that age in London for there to be much doubt; unlikely to be two of them.

It's a traditional Irish Folk song called Down by the Salley Gardens It's a favourite that comes out frequently when it's the turn of Ireland to represent themselves during a Five Nations setting. Last Night Proms etc...
Andreas Scholl as recorded it too
