This is off-season now (unless you're like me and listen to Christmas carols all year), but I wanted to draw attention to a really lovely lessons and carols programme recorded at Winchester Cathedral last Christmas:

That's the first of four parts. The production values on this service fairly squarely put those from Songs of Praise and and even the broadcasts from King's to shame. Winchester have a very 'warm' sound right that works very well for the carols, and even the video itself is almost elegant in places. I wish that we more regularly saw such richly-done programmes out of the cathedrals.

Thanks for sharing this. It is nice to hear Christmas music even at this time of year.

In the 'Right Now' thread I voiced my praise for the Roden Boys Choir. Here's an example of what I'm talking about

They make this Dutchman proud :D :D
(just too bad it took me so long to finally really listen to them... I had heard their name before but never seriously listened to them until yesterday when they sang in front of me... oh well, what better way is there to be properly introduced to a choir ;))

I'm so bored with the lack of news/excitement in Libera World right now. At such moments I tend to spend time looking at YouTube. One of my favourite channels is by treblechoir99, a French Canadian Libera fan and regular poster on the French forum (as Treble). If you like choir music then there is no better resource than Denis' YouTube account - HERE.

Some pieces that caught my attention:

I think that Palestrina Stabat Mater rendition is probably by the same choir line up as the famous Miserere (Roy Goodman et al).

I heard the next one performed by the other Westminster choir last week

Finally, my favourite (traditional)choir

I met Treble in Canada.

I assume he was accompanied by a fanfare of trumpets and people throwing down rose petals for him to walk on wherever he went

From Westminster Abbey Choir's Facebook page:

This evening at 7.30pm on BBC4: The Prince and the Composer. HRH The Prince of Wales presents a documentary looking at the life and music of C H H Parry, and features music from and interviews with the Choir of Westminster Abbey.

So, that's showing as we speak ;) If anyone has seen it, please let us know how it was and if it's possible to see it online.
