This is off-season now (unless you're like me and listen to Christmas carols all year), but I wanted to draw attention to a really lovely lessons and carols programme recorded at Winchester Cathedral last Christmas:

That's the first of four parts. The production values on this service fairly squarely put those from Songs of Praise and and even the broadcasts from King's to shame. Winchester have a very 'warm' sound right that works very well for the carols, and even the video itself is almost elegant in places. I wish that we more regularly saw such richly-done programmes out of the cathedrals.

I'm so bored with the lack of news/excitement in Libera World right now. At such moments I tend to spend time looking at YouTube. One of my favourite channels is by treblechoir99, a French Canadian Libera fan and regular poster on the French forum (as Treble). This evening at 7.30pm on BBC4: The Prince and the Composer. HRH The Prince of Wales presents a documentary looking at the life and music of C H H Parry, and features music from and interviews with the Choir of Westminster Abbey.
