Yes, I'll be a little surprised If this didn't come to pass, I think perhaps after a Japan tour but that's just guesswork from me.
So let's a have a Christmas roundup!
Well as I sit here on Christmas Eve, overdosing on Libera Christmas DVD and other YouTube videos, before watching
Carols from Kings at 18:15 - it's safe to say this has been Libera's most successful and lucrative Christmas campaign to date. Primarily down to their unprecedented invited trip to the US last week. The Leno performance was great, and we've still got 'Today' to come tomorrow (if that made any sense)... These network showings and the PBS specials would have generated them lots of new followers. The
video on the Leno site has received more social networking shares that the likes of Leona Lewis and Jake Bugg! The PBS specials of their Christmas in Ireland DVD appear to have been a huge success, I've only heard positive online feedback from the veiwers in the US.
Back home their contributions on BBC Songs of Praise Big Sing were faultless, and superbly filmed I hasten to add.
They didn't quite make it a hat trick on No1's for Carol of the Bells -
The official UK Classical Singles charts had the single placed at No3 (which is still very impressive) -
Their
2011 Christmas Album made it's first appearance this year at No35
I'm a bit confused with Itunes this year they appear to have reclassified Carol of the Bells in their specialist Christmas chart - last year they were placed Top of the Classical download chart but couldn't find them listed this year. Yet in the Christmas Music catagory we have;
Maybe ITunes was a little tired of them reaching top of the Classical downloads charts the last two years and decided to put them in with the big guys (and gals), and being ahead of the Pogues must be making Warner Classics very happy.
COTB has featured top 3 of
Amazon Classical single MP3 downloads for the past week
...and regularly shuffle into No1 at various times. By the way lots of Libera's songs are now featured highly in this list....
The 2011 Christmas Album has now entered top half of
Amazon Classical Album charts; currently placed 15th and this year's Ireland album is 21st....
It's a similar story on the US Amazon site, and Canada Amazon beat everyone because their Album reached Top 30 in overall music at one point! and it's the only ITunes Classical chart that I've seen the Ireland Album listed in the top 10....
So all in all, a very successful Christmas campaign....Hope they and everyone else have a great Christmas!
