It's been announced via Facebook/website that libera will be in the US on the east coast this summer! DC and Philly so far!

It seems as though Libera plans to work on their presence in the U.S. , (although return visits to Canada would also be welcome). I'm interested in knowing what other venues they have planned. I must say, though, that I didn't see anything about Philadelphia mentioned in the official announcement by Libera.

You and me both, labbie. Now that the USA has been confirmed as the destination, hopefully the rest of the stops
on the visit will be announced soon. I'm excited about Washington D.C., I've never been there before.
It sounds like this filmed concert won't be Christmas music. Maybe a chance for Voca me to be delivered
to a wide audience, that would be pretty neat.

Even I've been to your capital (and Capitol) city Tom!

Voca Me would be great but with the version filmed in Armagh still to see the light of day I think maybe not. I suspect that the line up might match most of the set list from the Easter tour (if that is the case then could we switch Ave Maria back to the traditional Libera version please). The one song I would love to see is Mysterium but my gut feeling is that it might not play well for the PBS tv audience however if they could stage something like they did in Guildford or Chester or Edinburgh it would be mind blowing.

So, if we can't have VM or Mysterium how about blowing the dusting off Vespera?

Wow, another DVD + CD? This is great news! :D I hope they'll sing some of their more recent songs, so I'll finally be able to hear them. :) The description sounds pretty hopeful: a mix of Libera favorites, traditional hymns and songs, and a few surprises. It will be interesting to see what the song list turns out to be.

I would LOVE to hear some traditional hymns and songs, so if that's in the rumours that'd be absolutely awesome. The "old" Libera classics would be nice too, like ones from the Libera album (the orangeish-yellowish one). To be honest though if they recorded themselves singing almost anything I bet most of us here would buy it. ;) Can't wait to hear what's gonna be on that song list!

Weird, I could have read wrong or maybe the original post was edited. I thought it said look out for concerts in Philadelphia at the end of July originally

Very excited for a DC location! Closest concert to me yet. Reserved seats for July 7!

Who here is planning to attend?

It's a shame it's on a Thursday. I can't desert my patients on a weekday. So close, yet so far. OTOH, another DVD! Blue Ray would be nice.

Awesome! Very excited about another CD and DVD recording, especially a non-Xmas one!

i really wish they would come to the west coast, especially LA. i don't count their Jay Leno appearance, because it was impossible to get into when they announced it, and it was only one song. However, as always, I am grateful for whatever I can get, and to be honest, I would rather a DVD every few years than a concert that lasts only in my memory.

PBS always does a great job, and we can expect the DVD soon if they are doing it. It was only a few months between the Xmas DVD filming and the release, and I suspect some of that time was simply to wait for it to be closer to Xmas time!

I've got my flight home booked as I have to be back in Toronto on Aug 8 but haven't decided when I'm going yet. I've never been to Washington so I expect I'll go early and do some sight-seeing.

I just reserved my tickets for the recording! It will be my first Libera concert, so I'm super excited! I've also convinced some of my friends to come with me, they aren't big Libera fans, but we got a great deal on bus tickets there so we'll spend the day sightseeing in DC and then the evening listening to Libera! :D

I'm hoping that a lot of people will be able to attend, especially since it's free. It would be really nice to see it packed, especially for Libera's sake, as an encouragement to them.

I also hope that any other concerts are announced soon, so that people can plan accordingly. Also, if they're not too far apart, some people might decide it's worth it to come see two or three concerts instead of just one.

DC is a wonderful place to visit. I've been there four or five times, the first time when I was 11 years old. There's a lot to see and quite a bit of it is free. Some of the free include the White House, the Capitol (congress), the Washington Monument (as well as all of the outdoor monuments), the entire Smithsonian Museum complex, http://www.si.edu/Museums, the National Archives, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (no free money samples, though!), Union Station (shops and eating), Washington National Cathedral (6th largest Gothic Cathedral - I took the Behind the Scenes tour for a fee and would recommend it, in the attic and on the roof, etc.), Library of Congress, the U.S. Botanic Garden (on the mall), etc. The Metro is relatively recent, and so is well-maintained, and underground stations have high ceilings - not so claustrophobic.

I'm hoping to go, just waiting a while to see about other possible concerts. Cheers!

Libera just uploaded a video with Ben, Ciaran and Alessandro going over some information about the concert. :)
