Re: Boys Choir Festival - Nuremberg - 18 June 2022

I have been waiting for three months for the full announcement. If it really takes place with all of these choirs, this is a super-attractive event! But at this moment I do not dare to trust in the Escolanía and NGK to come, although I deeply, deeply hope so.

I can only recommend Trinity College Choir, I saw them in concert once over here and they are outstanding!

Re: Schola Cantorum Upcoming Performances

I think the problem with Tosca for me was there wasn't anything that really caught my attention. There was no part of the performance that really excited me. As I said, I would happily see La Boheme again, so the problem is not Puccini in totality, but Tosca was just disappointingly insipid for me....

Re: Schola Cantorum Upcoming Performances

Even though I like opera music in general I have never cared for Puccini - too melodramatic or musically uninteresting aside from a few famous arias. Not that I question his genius at composition, it's just not music that suits me. Interesting you should say that. I really liked La Boheme, it was a...

Re: Concert in Ely Cathedral, May 2022

I thought it might be helpful to share some experiences or plans regarding travel, stay and attractions especially with locals or those, who were lucky enough to join the 2017 and/or 2018 Ely concert. For my part, I just have made a reservation for an accommodation at Ely for the night of the conce...

The Ely Box Office website of the Libera concert shows a glance on the programme I have only noticed today. Don't know if it was there before: https://www.elycathedral.org/events/libera It announces: "Saint-Saens Bacchanale from Samson and Dalila [...] " Saint-Saëns's Bacchanale! :o Wow, ...

Re: New Album "If" (Oct 2021 release)

Thank you both! :) :) I would have preferred the last song to be the Nunc Dimittis with its "now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace" which is made more poignant with Robert's passing. I see your point and agree that it could have been this one as well. But don't you think that this v...

Which again is even more amazing, as they do not only have to remember the words and their individual voice parts, but also when to move how and where . I think that for me the latter would be the most demanding. Ah, it's funny, I would have much more difficulties with " when" sho...

Re: Origin of Various Libera Songs

Libera's Prayer is the English version of the "Abendsegen" ("evening blessing") duet sung by Hänsel and Gretel in the German opera of the same title. Adelheid Wette (1858 - 1916) wrote texts for a fairytale performance and then asked her brother Engelbert Humperdinck (1854 - 1921...
