Re: Other Choirs, Singers, Musicians that you like
With Christmas getting closer, there is already a whole bunch of great music to listen to online. Advent services are still available by New College, St John's & St Thomas. The carol service webcast by New College is also already online, and at St Thomas there will be a short carol service tonig...
Re: Right Now
How did Friday at Paul's go? We had a real stroke of luck at the Abbey and were seated DIRECTLY behind the choir; I could look over their shoulders and read the music (well theoretically - I can't actually read music!). It was great to hear them work at such close quarters. Tom said overall he thou...

Re: Christmas Concert in St George, London, Thursday 28/11/2
After avoiding the seasonal flu for two months, it appears I have finally caught either that or just a nasty cold... Didn't help that the otherwise extensive heating system at my hotel went completely cold in the middle of the night. It's not too bad yet, but queuing outside for hours does...
Re: Right Now
Probably looking to do Evensong at St P's on Wednesday (despite my vowing to do so again since their appointment of a female Alto, but as nobody else has the full choir what can you do?). Friday will do the Abbey I think. Maybe hook up with you and try for seats in the quire? You can't possibly be ...

Re: Christmas Concert in St George, London, Thursday 28/11/2
Has Orinoco Flow been previously performed at (London) Christmas concerts? I can't recall for the life of me, but looking now at that set list it looks incredibly out of place.

Re: Other Choirs, Singers, Musicians that you like
I just attended the most amazing Britten concert at a nearby church. They finished with A Hymn to the Virgin with a solo quartet in the organ loft behind and above the audience, and the effect was incredible. Possibly the best concert I have ever attended. I think this is the performance that comes ...
Re: Right Now
St Paul's finally published their music lists for next week. Very exciting, my timetable now looks like: Wednesday: Evensong at St Paul's Cathedral Thursday: Concert day Friday: Evensong at St Paul's Saturday: Mass at Westminster Cathedral, Advent Procession at St Paul's Sunday: Sung Eucharist at We...

Re: Other Choirs, Singers, Musicians that you like
Well, what a brilliant coincidence. From St Thomas today Mass in G Minor & O Taste and See.

I'm not sure it's exactly an actual list that exists... I'll have to think about it.

Re: Other Choirs, Singers, Musicians that you like
I was about to come here to and flood this topic with the music of Ralph Vaughan Williams, and then I realised I had forgotten about this week's BBC3 evensong! Worth mentioning because it's sung by the choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, who of course are right up there with New College, King'...

Duruflé's Requiem, as a part of today's Solemn Requiem at St Thomas. (Also includes Psalm 121 sung to the chant by Davies' – with a lovely treble soloist.)

From New College this week, not only a new webcast as usual, but a full performance of Fauré's Requiem from last Saturday. http://www.newcollegechoir.com/webcasts.html BBC3's weekly evensong right now live from Canterbury Cathedral, after that of course available on iPlayer. The choir at Canterbury ...

Re: Libera - Christmas in Ireland
It seems like the preview on the iTunes website is only 30 seconds, but when you follow the link to iTunes you get full 90 seconds. I for one managed to miss this before – I've been keeping an eye on iTunes, but usually with my laptop where I now noticed I had logged out and therefore must have seen...

Re: Other Choirs, Singers, Musicians that you like
Ah, yes, if only King's still sounded like that. I wish they would include more archive recordings though – I think the next one airs in December. Anyway, something a bit different for a change: [BBvideo 425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paJQnjd_GPw[/BBvideo] This is Allegri's Miserer...
