Re: Other Choirs, Singers, Musicians that you like
Thanks Yorkie for the links, I think I've seen the videos before but with some loss of quality because of the website I was using to bypass the restrictions... First webcast from New College finally up: http://www.newcollegechoir.com/webcasts.html Purcell Thou Knowest Lord, Stanford in B flat, Brahm...

It just keeps getting better. Stanford in G and Hear My Prayer in the first webcast of the term. The soloist in the Mendelssohn is just lovely, especially in O for the Wings.
This is terrifying, it looks like I'm actually starting to like King's.

Re: Christmas Concert in St George, London, Thursday 28/11/2
I cannot be sure that nobody who tried to book premium tickets by phone got them, but i certainly didnt, and i phoned bang on 2pm GMT. This is really a pity coming on the back of Ticketweb's poor performance in not delivering tickets to several customers (or delivering them to the wrong people). It...

Re: Libera - Christmas in Ireland
Ah, finally a trailer. :D When I first saw pictures from the concert I wasn't so sure about some of the lighting choices, but it really looks very good. The Wexford Carol sounds amazing. I'm slightly wondering though why they only chose snippets of fairly simple harmonies in the songs – no solos, no...

Re: Christmas Concert in St George, London, Thursday 28/11/2
Wow, they went fast. :D I got worried for a bit when the website seemed to freeze for a while during the booking process and I could see from another computer that the premium tickets had already sold out. But turns out it was fine, everything worked well and I have to say that printable tickets are...

Well, there is now a fourth webcast online from 7th June and the choir sounds flawless. Wouldn't mind having a recording of the entire psalter being sung like that Psalm 36.

Re: Christmas Concert in St George, London, Thursday 28/11/2
I had decided that absolutely and under no circumstances would I attend the Christmas Concert this year since I need to be saving up money and not spending it. The problem is, I was counting on the concert not being the week of the first Advent Sunday. That means, in addition to the concer...

Re: Other Choirs, Singers, Musicians that you like
Nah.. only took me three weeks longer to find that on my own, so why bother. No but in all seriousness, I'm not such a huge fan of King's that I would want to follow their every update. But it's exciting anyway that the webcast phenomena is spreading. I have yet to listen to the services in th...

The choir at St Thomas 5th Avenue are back from their summer holidays. Webcasts are available from today's sung eucharist and evensong – including Stanford's Communion Service in C, Ireland's Greater Love Hath No Man and Gardiner's Evening Hymn among others.

Re: Free concert of Libera at Armagh : 9 August 2013
It also seems to be an American standard and isn't covered by the well known English choirs – is that a nod to a particular target audience? I think if you look it up with the title "Angels From The Realms Of Glory" instead, you'll find that it has been a part of the Christmas repertoire ...

Re: Other Choirs, Singers, Musicians that you like
I was trawling around the 'Tube tonight for performances of the Cappella Musicale Pontificia Sistina to see how good they were and found a joint concert with Westminster Cathedral Choir. That is the funniest thing: I did the exact same thing a week or maybe two ago. I kid you not when I say I almos...

Re: Other Choirs, Singers, Musicians that you like
I had to listen for a few moments before I picked up it was a boy singing! He has a very good voice but personally it isn't a style of singing that I like. Isn't there a (very tangental) Libera link to this piece? Well it's no doubt a boy very close to voice change, but he still definitely s...

Ah, brilliant, thank you. I thought I had already looked for the second part on the channel, but apparently not.
Yes, I guess it's not exactly surprising that these boys end up getting some serious scholarships. Good for them.
