Re: Name five musical pieces which you would like Robert

I was listening to the US concert given by King's earlier this year (well worth a listen HERE and the Encore really caught my attention - would it suit Libera do you think? There are some versions on YouTube but not with a Treble line: [BBvideo 425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbwhSP3ZIq4[/BB...

Re: Libera Concert in China (2017)

Thanks to John, Patrick & Kinda (what's your real name?) for your wonderful reports, pictures & insights. Seems to me that the first trip to mainland China proved a huge success, despite many of us over the years wondering if it was a market they could crack. Would have been nice if they could have ...

Re: The Moon Represents My Heart - Single

My vote is for a new version too - they didn't record the show professionally in Taiwan so I reckon any recording that they have from that tour will not meet the Libera high standard for public sale.

Re: London Concert - 1 December 2017

I think we will all be spread across London - I'm staying in king's Cross myself (convenient for my trip back North to Hogwarts). I guess people will congregate at St George's ahead of the actual concert start time as usual. You're quite right. I'll be staying in Hackney but I guess we'll all see e...

Re: Libera Concert in China (2017)

Just a small updates: it seems like they have the same setlist (as Patrick has posted before) for all 5 concerts, and there are only 13 songs each - can be understandable for such a tight schedule. I'll repost the setlist here tho: 1.圣达米安诺/San Damiano 2.梦回故里/I’m Dreaming of Home 3.在远方/From A Distan...

To each his own - but for me this is horrible. Does for me what an operatic soprano (with lots of vibrato) does for Yorkie, ie compares to finger nails on the blackboard, as does anything in a Whitney Houston style.
Yep, I have to agree. It's dreadful.

Re: London Concert - 1 December 2017

Hi guys, sorry for being inactive for the last couple of weeks. Settling into university occupies a lot of your time I guess. So here's a question: what do you think is the best thing for the boys to sign on? A piece of paper, the poster, the program, the official calendar, the CD, or someth...

Re: Your least favorite Libera song is?

The brass is marvelous for the fanfare and for the bold statements made at various points, but brass can't effectively render the tender emotion of the passage we now call "Going Home". Well, I know what people feel like talking to me about opera now! I guess nothing I say will make you in to a lov...

Re: Your least favorite Libera song is?

Hmmmm........ How about "Billy Elliot" performed by a mariachi band? Never thought of it but it has recently been playing in Mexico, maybe you can track down a clip for us to listen to. It might be a revelation. There are a few operas I can think of that it would improve.... back on Dvorak though a...

Re: Libera to tour USA

There are a lot of photos, and video clips, where they are reading. The boys seem to enjoy reading, which is obviously a good thing - one will benefit a lot from reading (not just relaxation). Music & reading - I can't think of anything better (besides family & friends, of course) that can have pos...

But a brass band is a poor instrument to play a piece such as Dvorak's New World Symphony.
 If you say so!

Re: Your least favorite Libera song is?

Eh, can't say that would be my favorite version. The tempo is too rushed and it sounds like it was played by a marching band - too much brass and not enough strings and woodwinds. This summer I had the great good luck to hear it performed by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra at one of their Conce...

Re: Your least favorite Libera song is?

Here's another version (and use) of the melody. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgjLJSuGPt8 Hovis! I remember that add because they ran it throughout the 70's - Their Millenium and Farmer's son adds are great too. Try this version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Mq59ykPnAE Sorry to take the thread...
